Today the Chieftain swim team competed at the Kenton Ridge Invitational. The boys finished 3rd of the 15 teams. This was a very competitive meet in which several meet records were broken so to finish behind only Kenton Ridge and Springfield was incredible. We are a team made up of equal parts first year high school swimmers and returners and therefore it has taken some time for us to balance our scoring. We are just starting to see the benefits of our hard work and the best is yet to come.

Scoring for the boys:
Jared Salyer – 16 points – 6th 200 Free, 7th 100 Free
Preston Henry – 14 points – 7th 200 Free, 7th 100 Breast

Adain Mifsud – 10 points – 5th 500 Free

I am very proud of how our team is progressing. We are dropping time, improving the details, and showing new strengths every week. Today the 200 free was an especially strong event for our boys. Preston Henry dropped 17 seconds, Imanol Calderon dropped 14 seconds, and Jared Salyer improved by 7 seconds. This is an event that requires swimmers to push when they are tired. Their technique becomes important and these drops show that we are becoming more efficient swimmers. Our team competes next at home on Tuesday, 1/14 in the Logan County Meet, which is also senior night for the three Logan county teams. Races start at 6:30 PM with an announcement of seniors at the break following 50 Free.
